Hello everyone. Is it really March 2022? Am I the only one for which time flies during a pandemic? I'm happy that the days are longer and that I'll be going to more performing events soon.
I want to share some amazing things that are going on in my life and career.
Most recently, I have been awarded the Equity Showcase Cayle Chernin Woman of the Year. That's Cayle's smiling face that you see. I am truly honoured. Not only was Cayle a dear friend, she was a champion of Canadian theatre and media artists. She was one of the leads in the Canadian classic film Going Down the Road. She herself was a filmmaker and a stage actor. You can find out more about her and the fund created in her honour here https://caylecherninaward.ca/. Each year, two grants and mentorships are awarded: one in theatre and the other in TV/film. Woman of the Year, is a separate honour for someone for her achievements and support of other artists. I'm thrilled to be recognized.
In January it was announced that Serving Elizabeth will have its US premiere at Peterborough Players in Peterborough, New Hampshire July 21 - 31, 2022. I'll get back to you when the cast and crew have been confirmed.
In October, I was surprised on stage during the curtain call of Serving Elizabeth at Thousand Islands Playhouse by its Artistic Director, Brett Christopher and Playwrights Guild of Canada Program Director, Monique Renaud. They announced that I was the 2021 recipient of the PGC Lifetime Membership Award! I am so honoured. PGC is a truly member-focused organization. I would not have my current success without their programs and support.
